Use a reference photo

Upload a reference photo when the scene should be based on a particular product or person. Describe the new setting and lighting, then review the reference surcharge before generating.

Choose a clear source image

Start with a well-lit photo that shows the subject without heavy blur or large obstructions. A product photographed against a simple background makes its outline easier to interpret. Use images you have permission to edit and publish.

Upload through the reference control in Create. Wait for the upload to finish before generating. A failed upload is not a usable reference; retry the upload rather than submitting a job that does not contain it.

Describe the change, not a different product

For example: “Place this ceramic mug on a breakfast table beside a window, with soft morning light and space on the right for a headline.” Keep material, shape and color instructions consistent with the source.

A reference guides the model; it is not a guarantee of exact product reproduction. Check logos, labels, proportions, facial features and small details before publishing. For listings requiring a faithful catalog image, keep the original photograph available.

Review cost and output

A reference adds 2 credits per generated image. A two-image Standard batch therefore costs 12 credits. Inspect both results before choosing a background for the editor. If neither is suitable, simplify the scene or use a clearer reference before another paid attempt.
